A city of many parts

Belluno has a rich history with many influential characters, each having made their own mark over the centuries on the city’s architectural and artistic heritage; the evolution of the city is evident from the ancient Roman Via Mezzaterra, to the medieval, Renaissance and Baroque buildings.

Perhaps the ruins of the Venetian Republic are the most recognisable of them all; it is hard to ignore the many stone lions still found lurking around the city. Of course there are many other fine examples of work including the theatre designed by Seguisini, dating back to the 800s; he also built a replica in Innsbruck, Austria. Moving forward a century to the 900s, you will see great palaces, private homes, public buildings and Ponte della Vittoria.

With so much historic influence, the best way to absorb the beauty of the City is by foot; there are 5 themed walks through Belluno tracing the path of its history, art and architecture.
