In sight of the mountains
From Piazza Piloni, where the Visitor Centre of the Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi (Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park) is situated, your itinerary takes you down via Carrera to Palazzo Fulcis (back view), the Chiostro dei Serviti and the fifteenth-century church of St. Stephen with works by Matteo Cesa, Cesare Vecellio and Andrea Brustolon, and where you can also admire some important mansion houses that overlook the eponymous square. Continue down via Roma, notable for its double colonnade, until Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, which features a number of important buildings, including Palazzo Fulcis and Palazzo Doglioni. Continue past the neoclassical Municipal Theatre until you reach Porta Dojona, the principal gateway to the old city and proceed down via Rialto until you reach Piazza Mercato. From here, continue along via Catullo until you find Torre Civica, (the Civic Tower) adjoining the thirteenth century Palazzo dei Vescovi (the Bishops’ Palace), now the Auditorium, overlooking Piazza Duomo.
