Immediately outside Belluno, there is the tourist resort of Nevegal, an upland whose altitude goes from around 1000 to 1700 metres, characterised by conifer woods and grass fields blooming with a surprising variety of flowers. All around, the breathtaking view of the Dolomites (UNESCO World Heritage): that’s why Nevegal is known as the “terrace on the Dolomites”. Just a fifteen-minute drive from the city centre and you will discover a natural heaven of peace.
The upland of Nevegal lays on the northern slope of the mountain group Col Visentin, whose highest peaks are: Col Visentin (1763 metres), Col Toront (1673 metres) and Col Faverghera (1610 metres).
Spring, summer, autumn and winter: it’s always the right time to live and love Nevegal! The “mountain of Belluno” can satisfy every holiday need: relax and silence, sport, nature and fun. Nevegal is the right place for Alpine and cross-country skiing lovers. The former can enjoy about forty kilometres of wonderful slopes with varying difficulty; for the latter, instead, there is Pian Longhi, with trails of different length and difficulty. Moreover, Nevegal has one of the best and most equipped slopes for night skiing of the entire Alpine chain. It is also possible to do ski mountaineering and off-piste in an environment of matchless beauty.
The landscape and the nature surrounding Nevegal attract plenty of tourists even in the summer, thanks to the presence of many easy but panoramic trails, perfect for families. In fact, Nevegal offers a unique view of Santa Croce lake and the Alpago mountains and, on the other side, the first spurs of the majestic and charming Dolomites.
Sport and nature characterise Nevegal (also known as “Colle” or “Alpe del Nevegal”), where nature trails lead you discovering unsuspected beauty, kept in the Giardino Botanico delle Alpi Orientali (botanical garden). Sportsmen can enjoy mountain bike, trekking, nordic walking, orienteering and even horse-riding, climbing, football, tennis and archery. The listed trails are easily practicable and have different lengths. Moreover, Nevegal is the “kingdom of bike” because of his numerous cross-country and downhill tracks.
Eventually, Nevegal is also a destination for religious tourism thanks to the famous shrine of Our lady of Lourdes, hosting tourists and devotees from all over Italy.
